Nokia have announced today that a new range of games is to be produced by Mobile Phone Game developer, Digital Chocolate. Whilst there has been little news to excite existing N-Gage owners, this suggests that the Nokia bandwagon may be gearing up to deliver on their relaunch with a new model in the pipeline for later this year, in addition to the N-Gage software platform release that is due to roll out to existing and new N Series phones.

The games are expected to be released around Autumn time, and will be a selection of card and puzzle games, with built in networking and interactivity features.

personalisation, interactivity and user-generated content

So says the author of a London School of Economics report, commissioned by Nokia. Rather than watching past episodes of a favorite soap or drama series, or catching news snippets, Dr Shani Orgad sees mobile TV developing into a form of a personal YouTube.

Also envisaged is a 5 or 7 second advert to cater for the dip in dip out, or snacking nature of the Mobile TV format.

Cambodia has banned the 3G technology over fears of porn and seduction. This report from the English Peoples daily has the low down:

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced a 10-year ban on the “3G” mobile phones on Friday, after his wife Bun Rany and the wives of several other top government officials petitioned him to do so, warning that the phones could be used by women to seduce men with pornography.

This is a very different stance from other governments who have made a lot of money from the 3G network auctions. The delay is until an “appropriate time in the future when the social morality is improved.”

Good news for all other N Series owners, but possibly the game that heralds the demise of the N-Gage…..

Other details are sketchy at the moment, basically lots of fish and some good looking graphics, but no expected release date.
